The second group to fight for a place in the quarterfinals was Group A. The day start with all teams separated by only 1 game. Afreeca started things off by beating Flash Wolves in a very quick game with only 6 total kills. G2 got their revenge against PVB in an extended game where Perkz went 11-2-11 on Akali. Flash Wolves bounced back beating G2 even on a gold deficit. Afreeca forced a 3-way tie by beating PVB. but PVB were not discourages as they surprised Flash Wolves in a crazy 49 kill game. This left Afreeca and G2 with winner taking 1st seed and the loser forced to play a tiebreaker. Afreeca continued their hot streak, going 3-0, and securing 1st seed, while G2 went on to face Flash Wolves. G2 learned from earlier in the day and controlled the entire game, winning 12-4 in kills and taking the 2nd seed.
Afreeca bounced back, going 3-0 and securing 1st seed, while G2 and Flash Wolves struggled going 1-2, but G2 prevailed in the tiebreaker to take the 2nd seed, while Flash Wolves once again were eliminated in group stage. Phong Vu Buffalo finished 2-4 and look to build on the inaugural season of the VCS; watch out for them next year.
