NA LCS Summer Finals began on Saturday with the 3rd place match between 3rd seed 100 Thieves and 5th seed Team SoloMid. 100 Thieves lost to Team Liquid, while Team SoloMid lost to Cloud9. Game 1 saw Rikara get the start once again. The 1st kill did not come until the 16th minute when a well timed gank on top gave first blood over to Ssumday. Team SoloMid prioritized bottom side and were able to secure the first 3 dragons. A fight broke out after the 3rd dragon, but even though AnDa fell first, 100 Thieves turned the fight around and got 2 return kills. TSM started Baron, but they could not finish it off fast enough as 100T used a few ultimates to enter the pit and AnDa stole it from Grig. A back and forth fight broke out, but TSM got too greedy and ended up getting aced. The game slowed until 100 Thieves were able to kill Grig, Mithy and Zven in an extended team fight in mid/jungle. Aphromoo and Ryu distracted the last 2 members of TSM, while the rest of 100T went and finished off the nexus to take Game 1. Ssumday led the way on Gangplank, going 7-1-6.
Game 2 saw Cody Sun subbed in and it may have spurred everyone to be way more aggressive as both teams look to invade on the enemy jungler. 100T went and stole the red buff, but it cost Aphromoo his life and first blood. TSM tried to return the favour, but a good collapse by the bottom lane saw 100T turn around to get 2 kills and the 1st dragon. A bottom lane gank by 100T between the 2 towers saw a 5 on 5 fight break out, but even with the towers, 100T came out ahead 2 kills to none. Another team fight broke out in TSM's jungle, but this time Bjersen's Velkoz ultimate was too much for 100T as they lost 2 members. TSM controlled mid and with a pick off on Aphromoo, they got vision control over Baron. At 25 minutes, they were able to start and finish Baron just before AnDa realized. They rode the Baron buff to take top tower and inhibitor, which forced 100T to fight but TSM fended them off and finished the game through top.
Game 3 started off with an aggressive dive mid onto Ryu. Hauntzer got caught under the tower and traded first blod for his life. Bjersen tried to help him teammate but was then caught out by a roaming Aphromoo and killed off as well. This allowed 100T to control and secure the 1st dragon. 100T stayed agressive, but then TSM turned and secured a double kill in their jungle. Another team fight in TSM's jungle saw TSM win 2 to 1 which gave them access to Baron. They eventually turned and killed off Ssumday to finish the fight 3 to 1 and a dragon. Even with vision on Baron pit, 100T decide to go for Baron and TSM are a bit too passive on the engage. 100T secure it and win the subsequent fight. The Baron buff gave 100T all inhibitor towers, which allowed them to continue the pressure on TSM's base from all lanes. A long and extended team fight in top eventually crushed TSM and their entire base to give 100T Game 3. Ryu's Malzahar went 4-2-6 and allowed 100T to focus down anyone who stepped too far.
Game 4 was the fastest of the series with TSM counter ganking 100T in the bottom lane which also gave them the 2nd dragon. Another team fight broke out in top lane with 100T grouping with 4 members. The initial gank failed to kill anyone, so the collapse by TSM turned to fight to push the score 6 to 0 and Baron buff at 21 minutes. TSM baited 100T to face check their jungle, which started a team fight. Grig went super aggressive right into 100T's back line and was taken down, but not before Bjergsen's Zilean ultimate which resurrected him and as the fight continued, he got a double kill to wrap up a clean game from TSM with 9 kills and 0 deaths.
Game 5 started off with a first blood and 1st dragon by 100T within 6 minutes of the game. A failed gank in bottom saw Aphromoo give up his life, but 100T still were able to secure the 2nd dragon off of it. There were constant team fights for mid priority with 100T able to secure their 3rd dragon of the game. Back and forth team fights saw TSM slowly claw their way back from a large defecit as Bjergsen's Zilean was always there to assist. Throughout all of this, 100T secure the 4th dragon as TSM were not able to contest. Bjergsen caught out Cody Sun which led to a Bjergsen double kill and access to Baron. TSM had 100T running around the map chasing their plays, but they were always a step too slow as TSM took Elder Dragon and then a 2nd Baron. A fight in mid saw 100T gain a bit of control again, but Hauntzer was just too tanky which forced Cody Sun to flash forward to secure the kill. This caused everyone to commit and they collapsed on Cody Sun, who went down very quickly. Ssumday tried to answer but his guardian angel was popped and he and 100T got aced by TSM. With Bjergsen, Grig, and Mithy still alive they pushed down mid to 3rd place! Bjergsen took series MVP carrying in Game 2, 4, and 5.
