Week 1 saw Golden Guardians surprise everyone when they 3-0'd Team SoloMid and knocked them to the lower bracket. Evil Geniuses put up a fight against FlyQuest in 5 games, but FlyQuest advanced to face Cloud9 as Team Liquid chose Golden Guardians are their match up in upper bracket semifinals. The lower bracket proved to be fruitful for the 7th/8th seeds as they bowed out 0-3 as Team SoloMid and Evil Geniuses advance.
Week 2 was much more interesting as 2 Worlds Qualification spots were up for grabs. In the first match, FlyQuest came out firing and Cloud9 did not seem prepared with much of an answer. It was a dominant 3-1 to secure FlyQuest Top 3 in LCS Summer 2020. Team Liquid followed that up with a cerebral performance to flex their #1 seed and also secure Top 3. With only 1 Worlds Qualification spot left up for grabs, the 4 lower bracket teams know that there are no more second chances and this is it. Cloud9 started it off with a clean 3-0 sweep of Evil Geniuses and have seemed to pick up a "gauntlet" buff. Team SoloMid look dead in the water after going down 0-2, but they didn't give up and slowly picked up momentum as they pulled off the reverse sweep on Golden Guardians to advance to the lower bracket semifinals. Cloud9 and Team SoloMid will face off against each other for the 3rd and last spot at Worlds!
