Coming into the week, it was supposed to be a clash of the titans for 1st place on Sunday between Team Liquid and Cloud9, but Team Liquid forgot that they were facing FlyQuest, who has been consistently competing with the top teams. Cloud9 kept their end of the bargain by beating Immortals on Saturday, so Sunday's match wasn't exactly a battle for 1st place as originally planned. Cloud9 came out with an experimental composition, which seemed to work in the early game, but Team Liquid's more standard scaling composition got activated off a mid-game pick by Blitzcrank. They snowballed from a slight gold deficit to a resounding, emphatic win to tie Cloud9 in 1st place once again.
FlyQuest shook off the doubts from their mid-season slump and took down Team Liquid and Golden Guardians to go 2-0. Team SoloMid also join FlyQuest as the other team to go 2-0 as they beat up on the lowly Dignitas and Counter Logic Gaming. Evil Geniuses should have joined them, but their inconsistencies this split continue as the beat Immortals, but then lose to Dignitas in embarrassing fashion. 100 Thieves, Dignitas, and Golden Guardians go 1-1 to keep pace at the bottom of the playoff standings.
