Week 7 was supposed to be calm with many of the playoff teams playing against non-playoff teams. Even though, we are approaching the end of the split, a new patch is always a good way to shake things up and create a little bit of excitement. On Day 1, we had the top 2 teams, Echo Fox and Cloud9, lose to the bottom 2 teams, Golden Guardians and Counter Logic Gaming respectively. It is almost certain that Echo Fox and Cloud9 finish 1st and 2nd by the end of the split, but you still wouldn't expect them to drop games like this going down the stretch. On Day 2, Counter Logic Gaming showed everyone that they wouldn't go down quietly; beating Team Liquid to narrowly keep their playoff hopes alive. 100 Thieves ended TSM's winning streak and kept their 1 game lead in the standings. Clutch Gaming went 2-0, clinching their playoff spot, and now sitting solely in 3rd place. For teams in the Top 6, it is not about where you finish in the regular season, it is about building momentum and showing up for playoffs.
