Overwatch League - Stage 2

Going into Stage 2 Week 5, Seoul controlled their own fate, but surprisingly lost to Houston 3-1, which put them in another map differential battle. Philadelphia took full advantage by beating Los Angeles Gladiators 3-1 taking control of the 3rd place race with a better map differential. Philadelphia continued their strong play with a 3-2 win against the Los Angeles Valiant to end with a map differential of +12 for Stage 2. This ended Seoul's chance of Stage 2 Playoffs, but left the door open for the Gladiators who needed to go 4-0 against the Uprising. Boston didn't mess around and took the 1st map to secure 3rd place for the Philadelphia Fusion. This set the stage for the Stage 2 Playoffs with Philadelphia facing London in the semi-finals and the winner facing New York in the finals.

Stage 2 had a similar feeling to Stage 1 with 2 Korean teams and 1 Western team in the Stage Playoffs. Everyone assumed that London would take the semi-finals to setup a re-match with New York, but Philadelphia had other plans; they came out firing, taking an early 2-0 lead. The half time break proved to be good for London as they were able to fight back and take the match to a 5th map. Philadelphia proved to be resilient and not let the previous maps affect them; to the surprise of many, they took the 5th map and beat London 3-2 in a crazy semi-finals. Philadelphia jumped right into the finals and they rode their high to another 2-0 lead. New York seemed unprepared for Philadelphia. as they might have expected London to be their finals opponent. Whether it was fatigue or just a change in strategy, but New York looked like a totally different team. They pulled off the reverse sweep with ease to get their revenge and take home the Stage 2 Title, earning themselves a $100,000 bonus.
