SK Telecom on the decline?!?!

LCK 2018 Spring - Week 1 has just started and with every new season comes expectations / predictions. I saw this article (linked above) on Reddit and thought it was very interesting to do a comparison between eSports and traditional sports.

SK Telecom came off a "disappointing" 2017, where they were swept in Summer Split Finals after a miraculous run through the gauntlet and then swept again in the World Championship Finals. In terms of titles, they were still able to win Spring Split and then MSI as well, but for a team like SK Telecom, it is World Championship or bust.

When you think of SK Telecom, two names come to mind, Faker and kkOma. Faker is the MVP and the focal point of all things SK Telecom. kkOma is the mastermind behind the scenes that controls all the strings. To me, this resembles another prolific duo in traditional sports from the New England Patriots, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

They have won 5 Super Bowls together and at the beginning of every season, there are people that question if they can reach that level again. The NFL Divisional Playoff Round has just completed and the New England Patriots have made it to the AFC Championship Game. Whether they win another Super Bowl this year or not, one thing is for sure, you can never doubt their greatness. And that's why I think at the end of 2018, we will look back on SK Telecom and they will win at least 1 title and who knows, they could become World Champions again, but I would never doubt them.
